crocodile, bee larvae and crickets

Deirdre and I have come to realized that jet lag is for real.  We are very slowly returning to the well oiled machines you have all come to know.  (so hard to express sarcasm sometimes!)

The people are fantastic here. I am blown away by the patience that is shown on the roads.  There are minimal traffic signals and signage to control the massive web of scooters, motorcycles, cars and pedestrians that weave throughout the tight city streets, yet no one seems to mind.  People wait their turn, squeeze through tight spots and generally work together.  Although they honk madly the whole time, it is not in anger, but just seems to be a habit.  The patience is definitely something two people who have spent time driving around the GTA can hardly believe.

We could not understand why everyone was constantly spitting, horking, farmer flinging etc. until we had spent 24 hours in the city.  The air is absolutely terrible and after a long walk your nose and throat burns and your clothes smell like you just got off of your snowmobile.

Last night we enjoyed an awesome dinner at a restaurant called Highway 4 .  A cool little place known for its traditional yet diverse menu (crocodile, bee larvae, cricket spring rolls etc).  We aren't quite that adventurous yet, so the cashew crusted spring rolls and boiled veg with sesame sauce was perfect.

After another stroll around Hoan Kiem lake, we settled down to bed  in an attempt to fight off this damn exhaustion.
